Creating Lasting Memories During Your Family Photography Session

Investing in a professional photographer to capture your family’s memories is a wonderful way to capture everyone together no matter what the milestone or occasion is. The husband of this family wanted to gift his wife with a portrait session for a milestone birthday. He said she loved her dogs but wanted to make sure we also got images of the entire family together. One of the sons had just graduated high school and would be off to college in the fall. It was a great time to capture this family and their beloved dogs before the dynamic changed. Time passes by so fast and before they knew it their next son would be heading to college in a few years too. We decided to do the session in the studio, in a controlled environment where the dogs could be off-leash. We were able to capture a nice variety of images during the session.

When working with clients all sessions start with a home consultation. During the consultation, I help clients select their outfits so there is a cohesive look and a color scheme that matches their interior design style too. We also talk about the vision for the shoot and review the product offerings such as albums, portfolio boxes, and wall art.

Next, we have the shoot day scheduled and I provide a professional hair and makeup artist for my client to look and feel her best. I create a shot list for the day and a schedule so that the husband and teenage sons can arrive a little later so they are not inconvenienced. We are efficient and my assistant supports me during the shoot to ensure everything goes as planned.

Lastly, we meet about one week later to review the images from the shoot and decide on which images they want to buy and what products and wall art they’d like to have in their home. This is where my styling skills come in hand because now what they are wearing matches the colors in their homes and will therefore look beautiful displayed on their wall.

These clients enjoyed their experience and look forward to enjoying their products which will be delivered in a few short weeks.
